Magic of Slydini by Lewis Ganson
Long
unavailable, Lewis Ganson's The Magic of Slydini is, perhaps, one of the
most influential magic books ever. Many of its routines have now become
classics in magic, including Flight of the Paper Balls, Helicopter Card,
Coins Through The Table, Slydini's Knotted Silks, The Paper Balls in the
Hat and others. In this brand new edition, Slydini has some additional
things to say about his creations. Some time ago, Dr. Gene Matsuura went
through the text of Ganson's book with Tony Slydini and took careful notes
as Slydini made valuable additions and observations. The Annotated Magic
of Slydini presents every word of Lewis Ganson's original text, printed
in black, along with Slydini's additions and corrections, printed in blue,
making this an invaluable and essential work even for those who own the
original book. Hardbound with matching endsheets, foil-stamped cloth cover,
striking full-color dust jacket, 312 pages.

Classic Coin Tricks by T. Nelson Downs
An Unabridged Reprint of "Modern Coin Manipulation"
The
art of the coin trick is one of the fundamentals of legerdemain, and T.
Nelson Downs was an unparalleled master of the craft. In 1900 the self-proclaimed
"King of Koins" published an extensive account of his new and original
coin sleights and tricks, "Embracing Every Sleight and Subtlety Invented
and Known." That rare volume is now reprinted here. It features detailed
explanations and diagrams of numerous feats with coins-most prominent
among them the author's world-famous original creation, "The Miser's Dream,"
a much-imitated act climaxing in the production of a shower of half-dollars.
In this complete manual of the art of conjuring with coins, Downs shares
his secrets for scores of "fakes" and sleights, including passing a coin
through the bottom of a hat, the money-producing cigarette, the mysterious
claret glass, the crystal coin ladder, the obedient coins, and many more.
He also offers a wealth of suggestions for stage "business" involving
handkerchiefs, goblets, hats and other props, as well as helpful tips
on presentation, patter and other techniques. By following the clear,
concise instructions in this book, both professional and amateur magicians
can expand their sleight-of-hand repertoires to include a host of baffling
and amazing tricks sure to dazzle and delight any audience. What's more,
this volume offers a superb introduction to the wit and artistry of one
of the acknowledged masters of the field. Paperbound, 272 5 3/8" by 8
1/2" pages, 150 illustrations.

Coin Vanish by Dan Watkins
Early
in 2002, Dan Watkins added a few short video clips to his site showing
some of the routines contained in Coinvanish. The response was overwhelming
and magicians around the world demanded to learn how these effects were
done. Well, here they are...and it was worth the wait! Coinvanish contains
10 professional sleights and effects intended for those ready to move
beyond the basics of coin magic. Contains: * The Back Thumb Palm Retention
Pass - your audience clearly sees the coin get tossed into your left hand,
then see your right hand empty and yet the coin vanishes! * The Middle
Finger Backclip - Dan gives a full description of this utility sleight
along with many references to other sources * Wiped Clean - a "hand washing"
technique to show both sides of your hands to be apparently empty. * Coinvanish
Trio - Show your hands empty, magically produce three coins and then vanish
them just as amazingly. * Sleight of Elbow - A coin appears from your
left elbow, vanishes into your right, appears out of your left, and then
vanishes completely into your right elbow. * King Midas Spellbound - A
quadruple Spellbound routine with gold, silver, copper and brass coins.
Squeeky clean! * Lightning Copper/Silver - The performer displays a silver
coin in the left hand and a copper coin in his right, and somehow change
places! Quick, visual, no gaffs! * Penetrating Okito & Beyond - The performer
shows a small brass box to be completely empty, puts the lid on top and
produces four half dollars! The box is placed on the back of his hand
and the coins pass through the box and his hand, leaving the box empty.
The box with the coins are again placed on the back of his hand and this
time the box and the lid pass through, leaving just the coins! * Jumbolaya
- After a one coin flurry routine, the coin grows to a jumbo size, appears
and disappears, penetrates body parts, and magically disappears once again.
* Double Take Transposition - A spectator is given a silver coin to hold
and the magician holds onto a copper coin. With just a wave of the hand,
the coins change places! The effect is then instantly repeated and everything
may be examined. Combbound, 24 8.5" by 11" pages, fully photo illustrated.

Coins on the Edge by Kainoa Harbottle
Kainoa's
COINS ON EDGE is 114 spiral-bound pages of secrets featuring painstakingly
posed, black and white photographs fresh from the underground, including:
Another Flipping Three-Fly A no-gaff version of the (now) classic Three
Fly plot performed with all new sleights that use nothing but edge grip!
The arrival of the last coin in the fan (done with your palm towards the
audience) looks impossible but will surprise you with its simplicity.
This trick alone is worth the price of the book! Sneeze Guard Quite literally
the quick and dirty way of producing four coins when you want your audience
to remember you (and not inspect your coins). Delayed Expectations A series
of blunders makes the magician magically lose all four of his coins. But
when he finds one he suddenly finds them all, in a version of “The Free
and Unlimited Coinage of Silver” for real world workers. Punctuated Equilibrium
Coins Across This routine rejects the dictates of the oppressive Right
to Leftist regime by exploring a world where coins are free to travel
in whatever direction they want--two, or even three at a time! Shrug off
the oppressive yoke of linearity and take a walk on the wild side. Deja-Flew
Why not do the best part of any coins across TWICE?! Make the coins appear
in your audience’s hands when they’re least expecting it and then offer
to repeat the effect under test conditions! Do all these exclamation marks
make you interested?! Why not!? Flying Wombat Every felt like doing a
vanish that looks like the Raven but requires nothing other than the ability
to Mutobe palm a coin? Me too. This vanish will make you feel like you're
doing real magic without the need for wires, trapdoors, or secrect assistants
named after flying creatures. Beijing Trio Kainoa’s handling of Curtis
Kam’s “Beijing Coins Across” from Palms of Steel II, featuring the “Ouch”
Change—a transformation of a coin from Silver to Chinese that looks oh
so simple but will hurt you as much as it hurts your audience! You’ll
recover, but they won’t be able to find their pants! But that's not all.....
While the routines listed above are meant to wet the appetites of the
neophytes, the real value of Coins on Edge stems from its definitive system
of sleights all designed for manipulating stacks of coins just inches
from your audience’s entertainment-starved faces, including: * The Action
Steal * X for X X-Change * Edge Grip to Edge Grip Transfer * Edge Grip
to Curl Palm Transfer * Drop Transfer * Drag Transfer * Edge Flip Steal
* Edge Flip Placement Additionally, there's three new handlings of the
Steeplechase Discrepancy, including the "One-Handed SD" and the "Non-Discrepant
SD." And the last but not least addition is some copper/silver work using
edge grip featuring two versions of the "Edge Grip to Edge Grip Change"
(yes, that's right...yummy pain), one of which was created by none other
than Jonathan Townsend!

and I was left with a feeling that some of you older magicians might just
miss out on a very fresh book with nice twists to familiar plots. We older
guys tend to keep with the things we use already. I am happy to have read
it. There are not many things that make me want to 'Bust out the coins'
and start practicing. A couple of routines from this book did just that.
Thanks Bill....I think. Magicians...young or old, it is time to buy a
new book!" -Jim Pace "Bill Citino is a rare breed. He is true student
of magic who cares about paying homage to the great practitioners that
came before us. He has taken the time to research the history behind the
slights he uses and this dedication shows in his magic. Real world workable
Coin Magic is rare these days and bill is offering you some real world
stunners." -Nathan Kranzo "Bill's book COINsomnia is a breath of much
needed fresh air. His work is so well thought out and every move planned
that you would think a composer wrote them. I am so pleased by the reactions
that I am getting after performing the magic in these pages! If you want
to fool the heck out of your audiences and you want some killer material
to add to your arsenal, then you must pick up COINsomnia by Bill Citino!"
-Corey Burke "'Kid tested, mother approved.' Magic that's guaranteed to
blow any lay audience away!!! Great work Bill!" -Eric Jones "You're going
to have a lot of fun with his stuff..." -Marc DeSouza (from COINsomnia

the very best of my judgment, David's ideas and execution far surpass
any one of them. I feel quite certain that if they could witness his performance,
they would be not only astounded, but realize that they had seen the master.
This book most lucidly explains his diabolic methods, and he most generously
divulges two of his very favorite effects. These up to the present were
strictly 'sub rosa.' I only wish that when I was young I could have had
a book of this quality to learn the true art of coin manipulation." --

Hatching
by Nefesch
Suppose
you could take an egg (Which CAN be borrowed- though where the heck are
you going to borrow an egg.) and a coin (which can be borrowed and more
likely.) and have both of them marked by a spectator. You then cause the
coin to magically penetrate INSIDE the egg. A small hole is chipped in
the egg, big enough to pour out some of the egg goo, but small enough
that a coin, which will be found INSIDE the egg, cannot escape. Spectator
can look inside the hole and verify they see the coin AND their mark.
Spectator can reach through the hole and grab the coin with tongs or tweezers
and pull it out THROUGH the shell themselves AND can immediately verify
that it IS the same coin they marked earlier. No tricky sleights. Yes,
there is a gimmick which you will have to create, but this takes less
than 10 minutes once you have the knack, and many can be made at once
and saved. You receive a manuscript giving you two versions of this effect,
one totally impromptu, and another which thoroughly explains the gimmick.
All this is a nice 45 page booklet, complete with over 50 illustrational
photo's.

Heads
Or Tails by Gary Kosnitzky
From
the book's introduction: "Imagine being able to toss a spinning coin high
up in the air and possess the uncanny ability to predict whether it will
land on heads or tails side up. Are you able to foretell the future? What
if you can toss a coin in the air and make it land face up on any side
the spectator wishes. You may even let the spectator catch the coin themselves.
Do you have super human powers? My aim in authoring this treatise is to
explain and teach you how to do just that. I call this method of tossing
a coin so that you have complete control over its outcome, the Controlled
Coin Toss. The act of tossing or also known as flipping a coin to make
a determination has been around for well over a thousand years. The ancient
Romans played a game called "navia aut caput" (ship or head). Most likely
it was named this because ancient Roman coins usually had a ship on one
side and the profile of the head of an Emperor on the other side. I would
not be surprised if there was a Toga-clad gambler back then who was employing
the Controlled Coin Toss to cheat at this game. The origins of this method
to control the outcome of a coin toss are shrouded in obscurity by the
mists of time. Only a small number of Mathematicians, Gamblers, and Magicians
have any knowledge of this technique. Fewer yet can actually do it well.
It is really not very difficult to do once you develop the knack. Like
anything worthwhile mastering it will require some practice." - Gary Kosnitzky
Done well, the Controlled Coin Toss is simply mind boggling! While the
gambling possibilities are obvious, the magic routine possibilities are
virtually endless! Learn how to perform and perfect this awesome trick
today!

specifically for dedicated and skilled magicians who are willing to put

fun and visual “Neverland Coin Production” is very direct and guarantees

“New World Chink-a-Chink” is an effort to take the classic “Chink-a-Chink”
off the table and put it into the hands, enabling the magician to perform
this effect in any walk-around situation. Curtis Kam offers “No One to
Four”, a fun, visual and startling effect. Following the theme of “Knuckle
Busters, Volume 4”, this is a four (or eight)-coin production. “The American
Dream” is a close-up “Miser’s Dream” with meaning and purpose. This effect
ends with an amazing tribute to the American spirit.

Kort
by Milt Kort
Milt Kort is a legend of sorts: a magician who has seldom traveled outside
the Detroit area, who rarely performs at magician's conventions or lectures,
yet a man whom the professionals and greats in magic came to see; men
like Paul Rosini, Dr. Daley, J.B. Bobo, Charlie Miller, Cardini, Dai Vernon,
and many more sought out Milt Kort and shared secrets with him. But why?
Milt was a pharmacist by trade, not a professional magician. The answer
lies in the word love. It was his great love of magic that drew magic's
greats to him. Magic has been Milt's abiding passion since childhood,
and he always did it for the love of it, for the fun of it, not for the
money or the fame in it. Anddun and mystery are what his book, Kort is
about. Well, there was one other reason they came; Milt often fooled them
with devishly clever tricks of his own invention. These tricks are in
great part what Kort is about. They all fall within the realm of close-up
magic, Milt's main love, and they use such mundane items as playing cards,
coins, dice, balls, razor blades, eggs, handkerchiefs, pens and toy elephants.
What happens with those items, though, is anything but mundane. Using

Kurious Kard Book by Jerry Andrus
This
combo book offers two of Jerry's classics in one volume. Kurious Kards
is a fascinating exploration into fancy and unusual displays that can
be accomplished with a deck of cards: Water Falls, Multiple Water Falls,
assorted ribbon spreads and more. This is the material that Jerry performed
on the Omni Magazine television program. One can build an entire act around
this material, or utilize some of these presentations for magic routines.
Jerry lists many ideas for using these displays in magic effects to dramatically
reveal a card. (For example, A card is selected, signed and lost in the
deck. The magician interweaves the cards and performs an impressive double
water fall with the cards with the backs towards the audience. At the
sudden finish, the performer is left holding the selected card, face towards
the spectators.) As usual, Jerry offers a wealth of tips and ideas in
this book. Five Dollar Tricks offers five Andrus routines with dollars
(coins and bills). He also explains some coin moves and a single and multiple
coin holder. If you have not exploited coin holders, you are missing one
of the more useful and powerful accessories in magic. One of the effects
in this book is Double Dollars, where a borrowed dollar bill is shown
on both sides, then folded into a cone, at which time the magician pours
a half dollar (or dollar) coin from it. The bill is unfolded, shown around,
then refolded into a cone and another coin is produced. Three coins are
produced and the bill is returned to the lender. Between these two books
is a wealth of unique Andrus magic knowledge that every lover of magic
will find value in.

Miser's Miracle by Jerry Andrus
EFFECT:
The performer shuffles a deck of cards and two are selected by a spectator.
Both of the performer's hands and both sides of the cards are shown.
Without any further manipulation the cards are placed face to face and
a silver dollar emerges! The performer rolls up his sleeves, shows his
hands empty and the process is repeated. He then tears one of the cards
in half, showing both sides of the pieces and his hands and once again
a silver dollar slowly emerges from the two halves! Taking one of the
halves, the performer tears it in two, and again shows his hands to
be empty and both sides of the pieces of cards. The two pieces are placed
together, and again a silver dollar emerges! Thus you have very fairly
produced four silver dollars with the last one coming from between two
pieces of card that are smaller than the dollar itself!

today's foremost authorities on self-working magic tricks (those that
need no special dexterity or long hours of practice), this how-to book
features an impressive array of 92 simple-to-do tricks sure to dazzle
any audience. Clearly worded instructions and 251 illustrations show
beginning as well as veteran conjurers how to pluck a seemingly endless

audience behind the scenes to expose the methods of the shortchange
artist. Other intriguing illusions include "Metal Bending," "Tower of
Nickels," "Balancing Act," "Thru the Ring," "Immovable Object," "Sealed-Box
Mystery," and dozens of other phenomenal tricks. No previous experience

Self-Working Handkerchief Magic by Karl Fulves
61 Foolproof Tricks For magicians wishing to start a magic act with
a dramatic visual effect, there is no better choice than a handkerchief
trick. In fact, such airy bits of baffling illusion are among the most
graceful and sophisticated tricks in the magician's repertoire. This
book is a treasury of handkerchief tricks that are easy to perform.
Karl Fulves, one of today's foremost authorities on "self-working" tricks
(i.e., tricks that do not require special feats of dexterity or long
hours of practice), has collected 61 of the finest self-working handkerchief
tricks and presented them in this easy-to-follow, well-illustrated guidebook.
After a brief introductory chapter describing necessary materials and
helpful hints on handling the "tools of the trade," the author proceeds
to the tricks themselves. Over 500 clear illustrations and step-by-step
directions show you exactly how to execute such "sleights of silk" as
making handkerchiefs appear (and disappear), penetrating handkerchiefs
with solid objects, cutting and restoring handkerchiefs, creating animated
figures and performing a variety of combined card and handkerchief tricks.
Newcomers to this mystical art will quickly learn techniques for these
astonishing illusions: Threading the Needle Houdini's Coat Freefall
Paper Bag Vanish Switch over Decapitated Knot He Found It! Crazy Compass
Silk from Silk Pop Up The Mouse Spooky Spoon Produce a Wand Zombie Card
Rise and 47 more! No previous experience is necessary and most tricks
require only a simple handkerchief. A few use uncomplicated apparatus
constructed from cardboard or paper. Almost all can be mastered in a
short time. With this book and a little praactice you'll soon be dazzling
friends and relatives with an impressive array of handkerchief hocus-pocus.

Street
Cents by Andrew Gerard
The
performer gives a spectator his/her business card folded up and asks
them to place it in their pocket for later. Then a game of "which coin
in the hand" is played 5 times in a row and a score is kept of the spectator's
hits and misses. The performer asks the spectator to remove the business
card that’s been in their pocket all along. They open it without the
performer ever touching it and it matches their score! Bonus routines
and notes: NON Cents - Impromptu Street Effect - The magician/mentalist
reaches into his/her pocket and pulls out a closed fist announcing it
contains 3 coins and asks a spectator to play a little game of imagination.
The spectator is asked to name a coin, and ANY coin they name the magician
will pull out of his hand. After the coin is named and removed, the
magician announces the game wasn’t fair, opening his hand showing it
completely empty! No shells No pulls No magnets Perform in a t-shirt
Nothing to add, steal away Only ONE coin shown Different outcome every
time! Chair Cents - a routine idea for stage (this idea is worth 5 times
the price for a working performer)! You will love what Andrew Gerard
has done with this gimmick.

SWITCH
- Unfolding The $100 Bill Change by John Lovick
Few
objects that magicians conjure with stir the imagination the way proper
currency does. Money never goes out of style. Imagine being able to
increase a dollar's value a hundred-fold. In the 1970s, a handful of
American magicians encountered an Eastern European circus performer
named Vlado, who stunned them all by doing just that! Vlado never published
his revolutionary bill change, but variations quickly spread throughout
the world of magic. Today it is a close-up standard, known as the $100
Bill Switch. For three decades, magicians have been exploring new and
different applications of this versatile technique. Changing $1 into
$100 is only one of countless possibilities. The switch can be combined
with items like the mis-made bill, used for transpositions, torn and
restored routines, bill to impossible location effects, and much, much
more. SWITCH collects the best work on this subject from magicians around
the world. In addition to a thorough description of the original handling,
more than twenty variations are meticulously taught using hundreds of
crystal-clear line drawings. Some variations use a thumbtip and others
don't, some use fewer folds, and one uses no folds at all! There are
instantaneous and visual transformations, multiple switches, a one-handed
change, palm-up handlings, and more. In addition, SWITCH contains over
60 complete routines as well as sleights, subtleties, utility moves
(such as bill productions and vanishes), a definitive history of the
bill switch, performance theory, presentation ideas, and several routines
that don't even involve money. Plus, for the very first time, Vlado,
the inventor of the $100 Bill Switch, emerges from the shadows to tell
his own story in a revealing interview. SWITCH is not just a book of
close-up magic - a majority of these items can be performed in a cabaret
or stage setting. With contributions from more than 70 magicians in
11 countries, this is probably the largest single volume in magic literature
devoted to one principle. Thirty years after its remarkable arrival,
SWITCH brings the bill change up to date and into the future! MONEY
CHANGES EVERYTHING!!! SWITCH includes: The original handling of the
$100 Bill Switch - as performed by the inventor - described for the
very first time. More than twenty variations - some use a thumbtip and
others don't, some use fewer folds, and one uses no folds at all! Instantaneous
changes, multiple switches, palm-up handlings, a one-handed change,
bill productions & vanishes, visual transformations, and more. Sleights,
subtleties, utility moves, performance theory, presentation ideas, and
a definitive history of the bill switch. More than 60 close-up and stand-up
routines, each described in meticulous detail with over 700 illustrations.
The routines include Transpositions, Bill-to-Impossible-Location plots,
Torn & Restored effects, and several routines that don't even involve
money. Pages 346

These
Damn American Coins by Matt Colman
Three
coins, two hands and a camp little purse. First off, three coins drop
to the table. Counting the three coins...you realize one has vanished
in mid air...It has penetrated the purse! Open up the little purse to
find the first coin! The excitement doesn't stop there! Oh no baby.
After the bewilderment of how the hell that happened, the magi tries
to repeat it, this time not through cheap imitation leather, oh no he
means business...this time through solid wood! Two coins are rubbed
on top of the table the hand is removed and shown one has gone. It has
melted through the table! The magician losing his sanity over the damn
American coins tries it one more time. One coin rubbed through the table,
the last one can even be signed! It's gone! The other hand goes underneath
and plucks the last coin out from under. The purse is placed on the
table. "A miracle" they all shout. It's all over. Just then the magician
seems to lose his balance as the coin purse he's resting on vanishes
from under his hand! It's melted through the table too! Pages 7 - Spiral

The Unexpected Visitor by Douglas Brewer
(Perfect bound with illustrations by Tony Dunn, 85 pages)
Coin Magic for the Walk Around Performer
Douglas
Brewer was the 1998 SAM Close-Up Champion, and the coin magic routines
featured in this, his first book, are fast-paced, resetting, and within
the handling abilities of the average coin worker. Just about all of
the routines can be done with little or no table space. Included on
each routine is Doug's patter and step-by-step illustrations.
- Captivating
- A three-coin production using your pen and its cap. The routine
is the epitome of simplicity (with a gaff that you already own) doing
most of the work for you. It's the perfect way to begin your coin
act.
- EZ
Triple Wildcoin - This is as easy as it gets. It's two coins changing
TWO TIMES with very little work. It starts with two half dollars magically
changing to English pennies. The pennies are placed in a coin purse
and when dumped out, they become Chinese coins!
- Backhanded
- A coin matrix with three coins (from 3 different countries) and
a single playing card. The vanishes are extremely clean and rely heavily
on the use of sound. The backfire at the end is quite a kicker.
- The
Famous Three Coin Trick - A multi-phase smorgasbord of coin magic
using only 3 coins! With only three half dollars and a coin purse,
this is about the strongest opener you could ever perform. Each coin
vanishes, is immediately reproduced, and then vanishes again only
to jump INVISIBLY back to the purse where they started.
-
Sounds Familiar - A coins across routine in the spectator's hands
that ends on a one-two punch. Uses English pennies and a single Chinese
coin simple and memorable.
- Chopped
Taters Doug's only non coin routine is chop cup routine for table
hoppers packed with comedy and surprises. It's got it all a mini
cup (that fits unobtrusively in you pocket), and a cute mini potato
finale that'll make them cheer. A restaurant worker's dream!
- The
Hook Revisited An even simpler version of the Jennings classic.
Three coins are hung invisibly in the air. The hands are shown fairly
after each vanish and you end completely clean after the last coin.
There's no handwashing, sleeving, or lapping and you can do it surrounded.
- Three
Across the Fly - A dual phase coin routine that kicks off with Three
Fly and ends with a crisp new Coins to Pocket routine that's candy
for the eyes.
- Down
Spout - One of the easiest, no stress coin-in-bottle routines you'll
perform. It plays huge because of how fair it appears.
- The
After Dinner Trick - A small thimble sized cup plays host to a vanishing
act as half dollars mysteriously vanish from it and appear in your
empty hand.
